You should at least have proof-read your video. Not that this would make anything less “let’s make a bullshit viral video”.

I can’t attest to all of the ways of counting, but the Japanese one is accurate. Every convenience store clerk counts out the bills the same way before handing them to me.

I have been to Turkey many times, and people DO count money like that (although maybe not exclusively.) Anyone saying they don’t is just lying so they can bash the video.

Uh… “In Africa…” ignorant fcku, it isn’t one country, and having lived on the continent most my life I have never seen anyone count money like that. Though as I have only been in 3 of the many countries on the continent, I concede it is possible that in some countries money is counted that way.

As everyone knows despite being the highest producer of platinum in the world, my country has no money and no one can count.

I have never seen that retarded way of counting in Turkey. We count money similar to the China, Japan, Korea way.

i found the african way pathetic!
does that make me a bad person?

monopoly, does anyone get a kick out of doing that?
    no?

Counting the money asthe Turks do, or the Africans, might look folish to Western people.
However there are a few tricks to fold money in a pack so you might count it twice. The “English” way does take care of that. For some of the above remarks but do not judge so easily…

Africa is a continent and not a country, so I wonder how many African countries this fool visited before jumping to his ignorant assumption.

  26. on 15 Apr 2008 at 12:13 pm 26.Jeremy said …

    1) for those who are saying africa isn’t a country… you are right. the title of his post is “how people count money from across the world”, and in the part about africa, it says “In africa”. It probably would have looked weird to put “in the continent of africa”, so what he did, from my perception of the english language, was fine.

    2) for those chastising for the use of the same currency- did you want him to fly around the world and get the currency from every damn country? Its not practical, even if he did get some money when he “witnessed” these styles because he couldn’t use all of it in his own country

    3) for those people that say “most people don’t” or “nobody does”: I doubt you have met most people or everyone in your country. He only states this is that people do it in that set of countries, really only necessitating that ONE person from that set of countries do it. I’m sure someone in that country does it like that, which may or may not preclude another country doing it in the exact same manner.

Wow. The Internet Dickwad Principal in effect. Take a normal person, place a keyboard in front of them….Instant Dickwad.

What a bunch of jerks. The internet should have an IQ threshold. If you’re dumber than a banana, you get K-lined.

Interesting video, regardless of it’s accuracy. Never thought about it, really.

Betcha wish the cash was genuine, eh?

All the people saying “noone does it X way in Y”: most cultural behaviours, like dialects and folk music, not only change/disappear over time but tend towards however the dominant culture does things. If you don’t see these methods in your everyday life, maybe they’re done by older rural people. Or if you were just visiting, maybe you never actually watched someone count cash… not something I tend to do on holiday. Until now perhaps.

I think the Indian way is the most effective, but Im still a child, and never had so much money to count (all the big money’s in the bank/with dad). The only way I ever count money is like a pack of cards in a hand, and just counting the corners.

Oh yeah, some people are saying this guy doesn’t know about the thing he’s making videos of. It’s just to amaze people, and it’s intresting. It’s how he saw the people where he was (or where his sources were). He’s not getting payed to do this.

The comments are nearly as interesting as the different ways of counting. For those of you who criticize and call the above bullshit, try to leave Alabama (or whatever hicksville you live in). I’ve been all over the world (yes, all over) and people do count money in different ways - maybe not as regionally accurate as shown.
Thanks for the post, and to the rest of you retards, get a passport, get traveling and get a life.

As a Russian I can confirm that I did see on a very rare occasion people counting money the way shown here. I believe it relates to some sort of subculture, possibly some sort of criminal etiquette.

I don’t believe *any* of you can speak for the entire country/region you are from. It is fine if you are from Pakistan and you haven’t SEEN money being counted a particular way, but don’t pretend that you have seen ALL of the ways in Pakistan.

Another thing to consider: have any of you critics thought that perhaps these are the ways money is counted in front of foreigners or travelers? And that maybe that way itself different?

  45. on 07 May 2008 at 2:00 pm 45.Simon Howes said …

Never really see anyone count that way in the UK. We usually hold the cash in one hand, and place the cash onto a surface in piles of x amounts.
