PSP gets new color in Japan

1

WTF?!?! This color is hideous. Good thing this is gonna be a Japan only release and that only 60,000 units will be made, the upside is that you get a TV out cable in this bundle for ¥23,800 ($230). But i would just spend the extra 29 bucks for the cable and get yourself a hot red God of War PSP.

Wii outsells PS3 4 to 1 in Japan

1

“Nintendo sold 331,627 units of the Wii in the four weeks to February 24, compared with 89,131 units of the PS3, Enterbrain said on Thursday. The Wii’s lead on the PS3 appears to be widening: In January, Nintendo’s game console outsold Sony’s by almost 3-to-1.

Nintendo’s own “Super Smash Bros. Brawl” for the Wii became the best-selling software for the month in Japan, with 1.33 million units sold, followed by the “Wii Fit” home fitness game, which sold 309,311 units in the four weeks, Enterbrain said.

The Wii has been leading the three-way game console battle with the PS3 and Microsoft Corp’s (MSFT.O: Quote, Profile, Research) Xbox 360 as its strategy of offering easy-to-play and innovative games to expand the overall game population has proved a big success.

Microsoft, whose videogame business is struggling in Japan, home to both Sony and Nintendo, sold 14,079 Xbox 360 units.”

Blu-ray officially wins (finally)

1

“It’s official. Toshiba just made a statement saying, ” it will no longer develop, manufacture and market HD DVD players and recorders.” Cessation of the player and recorders are targeted for March 2008. Volume production of HD DVD disk drives for PCs and games will end in the same time frame. However, Atsutoshi Nishida, President and CEO of Toshiba Corporation did say that Toshiba will, “continue to assess the position of notebook PCs with integrated HD DVD drives.” That’s it folks, the format war is over, Blu-ray has won.”

iPhone usage shocks Google

1

“Google on Wednesday said it has seen 50 times more search requests coming from Apple iPhones than any other mobile handset — a revelation so astonishing that the company originally suspected it had made an error culling its own data.

“We thought it was a mistake and made our engineers check the logs again,” Vic Gundotra, head of Google’s mobile operations told the Financial Times during this week’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona…..”

Oh boy, here’s another punch from Blu-ray

    Photobucket

Netflix is going all Blu-ray, they’re decision comes from the fact that most Hollywood studios seem to be converging solely around Blu-ray. But don’t worry HD-DVD lovers, Netflix should continue offering a limited selection of discs until current stock is phased out around the end of the year, that’ll give you enough time to save up for a new shiny Blu-ray player

    Best Buy goes with Blu-ray

    1

“Best Buy has announced it will officially promote Blu-ray as the HD format of the future. Starting in early March the store will showcase Blu hardware and software on its shelves and website, and switch from its current neutral stance, to recommending Blu-ray to any customers that ask. While “an assortment of HD DVD products” will remain, a vote of confidence from major retailers, following the majority of studio support, will make it impossible for red to recover.”
