Meet the BlackBerry Kickstart

This is the BlackBerry Kickstart, the first ever clamshell phone coming out of RIM. The phone sports a Pearl-like keyboard, trackball navigation, and apparently utilizes both an internal and external LCD screen. No word on specs, carriers, or a release date, but Boy Genius Report says it will be coming out “within the year” so we don’t have long until we see this puppy out.

Sprint’s attempt to dethrone the iPhone (not even a chance)

Gizmodo got their hands on the Samsung Instinct, Sprint’s answer to the iPhone, and they weren’t really impressed, the phone does not have an accelerometer, it lacks multi-touch technology, it has 3G but on this particular handset the connection seemed very slow. Other features include: haptic feedback, visual voicemail, and a music store.
It’s hard to say how well (or bad) it’ll do once it comes out in June, but we’ll keep you informed on any updates.

Adobe developing flash support for the iPhone

Despite what Steve Jobs said last week, Adobe is still planning to develop a Flash player for the iPhone. Whether it will be nicely integrated with Safari or it will be it’s own browser (which Apple will be rejecting i’m sure) is still up in the air.
Here’s a quote from the Chief Executive of Adobe:
“We believe Flash is synonymous with the Internet experience, and we are committed to bringing Flash to the iPhone. We have evaluated (the software developer tools) and we think we can develop an iPhone Flash player ourselves.”
We’ll see what Steve-o has to say about that statement….

iPhone usage shocks Google

“Google on Wednesday said it has seen 50 times more search requests coming from Apple iPhones than any other mobile handset — a revelation so astonishing that the company originally suspected it had made an error culling its own data.
“We thought it was a mistake and made our engineers check the logs again,” Vic Gundotra, head of Google’s mobile operations told the Financial Times during this week’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona…..”
